Sunrise Shell and Cone Shell Necklace

This necklace is created using bead embroidery techniques. I hand stitch a vessel around the shell, using gold coated Japanese glass beads. I finish the back of each piece with man-made Ultrasuede for maximum comfort. The findings are all 14 karat gold filled and the beads are tube cut cone shells and a green opal. This necklace is an adjustable 24 inches. The shell is an indigenous scallop shell known in Hawaii as a Sunrise shell and it was once only worn by royalty.
